Appreciating the Small Things in Life

I have been here nearly 2 weeks it feels like I have been here forever. It dawned on me today that I’ll be here for 2 years. I am not sure how I feel about that. I’ll tell you after a year. I have finally received my boxes it felt like I have been waiting forever. I was so excited it felt like Christmas. I realised how much you appreciate the small things in life. Here is an example. I went and brought a dish rack and a cake tin last week. I was so excited and can't say I would ever buy what I did in NZ. The dish rack was pink!! I am very happy with them.
I spent the day cleaning my house today. Wow did it take a long time. There was a coating of dirt on everything. There is dirt/dust everywhere here. Some days it seems like there is a fog of dust in your house. Mopping is a long process. I can't wait to go to Morocco I have wanted to go there for a long time now. I am saving my money so I can buy lots of art and jewellery of cause. Hmmm trying to think of what else I can write about my mind has gone blank. Today I made Dahl it was so yummy. Oh that's what I was going to write about. Do I have a strong accent because I may as well be speaking Chinese no one understands me very annoying ha. Well I think I may go will be back soon.

Last week we went to the American Embassy it was so nice having a swim. The river you can see is the Nile. I took those looking down from the Embassy. The salad is Kumera and Mango it was good!! I love the dates here. Image above.

Camel Market in Khartoum

Today I tried camel meat. It wasn't too bad. That’s what you can see on the plates to your left. The camel market is probably
about half an hour out of the city. We had to wait 2 hours to get our food. The Sudanese people pray 4 times a day, could even be more. So nothing happens until they have finished praying. The pictures of the cups and jug are how they serve coffee. Oh my god it is the best coffee ever I had 4 of them. It’s really strong but good!! They add ginger and spice to it. Some of these photos I took from the bus so this was a little tricky. The beds that look like camp stretchers are Sudanese beds.
They are not that uncomfortable. What I didn't like is how they tie the camels up. They tie one of the camels leg up so it’s standing on 3 legs. This is so they don't get away. I didn't like this part of our trip. Asher you would have been horrified.

Natiruts Brazilian...

African Music

Hi haven't worked out how to answer peoples comments, Lynne? Louise you would really like Khartoum. I think its pretty hard to get a visitor visa. It took over 6 weeks to get mine and I had a job here. Maybe you could look into finding work here. That's if you are really interested. I have to work out how to reply to you personally. Thanks Lynne for the tips will find time to jazz up my page. Ok back soon I have photos of the school to download.

To my Friends and Family

I just want to say to everyone how important it is to have contact with you all. Today I
realised that if im upset or need to talk to someone i cant just go visiting. I have to ride it out by myself. I can't even have a glass of wine. What a challenge this will be for me. Can i cope I think i can. Life is full of ups and downs, isn't it? Its how we react to them. One minute life is going great then you are thrown a curve ball. You fall then you pick yourself up and carry on. Yes today was an emotional day. Im exhausted I need to sleep.
Tomorrow is another day. Im sorry if i don't have photos up of you. You will have to send them to me : )
